Position: International Freight Sales
This position is responsible for the development, management and sales of international freight forwarding, customs brokerage operations and logistics. Implements all established procedures relating to export and import activities. Directly involved with the sales development of new business. This position will have direct responsibility for the success and growth of a specific market and develops strong internal and external relationships at all levels in order to be responsive to changing customer requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage the day-to-day operations relating to all areas of forwarding, customs brokerage and logistics.
2. Development and service of new and existing business.
3. Coordinate and prioritize the movement of export and import freight by service commitment and revenue gain.
4. Perform all required freight functions in support of overall international requirements.
5. Management the customs brokerage operations and maintaining of all U.S. Customs compliance issues.
6. Develop strong relationships with ocean and air carriers so that the company has a “preferred†standing in the priority handling of cargo.
7. Be a primary contact for local or regional customers at a level above the day to day issue resolution.
8. Ensure quality RFP's are initiated, developed and executed within the branch location.
9. Maintain established service performance levels.
10. Work with international agent partners in development of new business opportunities.
11. Act as the lead facilitator for customer issue resolution related to service performance issues.
12. Provide leadership, guidance, training, compensation management and performance feedback for direct reports. Mentor, coach, challenge and evaluate team members. Provide additional training opportunities as they arise. Participate in the recruitment and selection process for new associates.
13. Stay abreast of advances and changes in the transportation and logistics industries as well as general business developments.
14. Ensure that team members have the necessary tools/resources to achieve assigned tasks in a quality/efficient manner.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree desired. Major course of study in logistics, transportation, international or business preferred.
2. 5-10 years of international transportation operation experience and warehousing and air or ocean carrier experience desirable.
3. International and overseas business experience.
4. Comfortable working with individuals with difference languages and cultures.
5. Proven leadership skills in a team environment.
6. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks/projects.
