The Sr. DBA is a technical leadership role that will support and coordinate with Development and Production resources to plan, design, and sustain data solutions for Layered Technologies. This role will serve as the technical leadership role for database design, integration, output solutions, and support for new and existing solutions addressing MS SQL Server. The Sr. DBA must be able to effectively coordinate and execute across multiple departments, projects, and resources. High levels of communication with an enterprise focus will be required. Heavy interfacing with application developers and system administrators across a variety of business solutions. Specific activities will focus on database design, performance, data integration, consolidation, and analytical reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Participate in business requirements gathering and rules definition
2. Translate business requirements into business solutions leveraging existing data solutions
3. Interface with developers and functional representatives to construct and recommend improvements, changes, and long term directional opportunities
4. Lead and define database design considerations, data integration, and reporting output solutions
5. Assist in the database construction and testing
6. Provide performance analysis, debugging, and tuning
7. Provide user support and cross training of other personnel in user support activities
8. Document software components sufficient for on-going support and enhancement
9. Provide project management coordination related to data solutions/environment in concert with the PMO
10. Teams with other IT and non-IT management to insure that proper and proactive solution integration, and priorities are consistent
11. Integrates vendor product plans and LT needs for scalable growth, functionality, and support.
12. Must be able to work with inter and intra-departmental management to incorporate system and application impact as a result of other shared data or application development efforts. Includes data mapping/interfaces to other internal and external applications and service providers
13. Effectively communicate status of tasks and projects
14. Plan, build, and support database instances, databases, and internal structures
15. Define practices and policies associated with database changes
16. Provide proactive leadership in determining upgrades, patches, and general enhancements
